You can find wire in a lot of places... it's basically everywhere online, for a B&M store you can try Radioshack, Home Depot, Lowes, etc.

Radioshack definitely has 26 gauge wire. I buy my wire from them when I need it, I think you might also be able to get wire a little smaller, but I am not sure.
