Wow! Makes me think of the arm I'm building for my robot with those Servocity power servos...I wonder what techniques can be used to prevent injury with those kind of things...Perhaps I out to fit my robot arm with plastic or rubber sheathing to keep guests or small children from putting their fingers in my robot arm...perhaps a few infrared sensors in-between the joints to make sure no fingers get in there...

hmmmm ....i need one of these...u seen robocop and that japanese android which comes to kill robocop in robocop 2 i guess...this servo will do the work of the fingers pretty well...crushed robot brains and human fingers...lol

anyway, this is getting a bit off topic...
i.e not about crushing fingers... more about terminators and delivery companies named skynet than servos...

Those are some powerful servos, but doesn't the presence of that metal ridge under the objects help crush objects as well? High pressures, which causes the fractures, form because of the small surface areas that contact the object. On something like a robot arm, the size (surface area) are much larger, so the pressures wouldn't get as high (they would still be powerfull, but it wouldn't cut your finger clean of; unless you were unfortunate to be in contact with very small areas, as in the video).

I wonder what this torque translates to when used in a robot arm. Can an arm using these servos pick up 1 lb objects, or a gallon of milk? Surely, a terminator that couldn't do any of those lifting tasks would be useless; even if it could crush everybody's fingers at once.
