Homemade PIC robot board.
« on: May 04, 2009, 01:33:15 PM »
I am making my own "PIC board" for my robotics projects. I am trying to save as much space as possible on the board with out causing any serious problems, and now I just have one simple question. Would having the crystal placed under the MCU cause too much electrical noise that would interfere, or should I place it somewhere else?

Placing a crystal there wouldn't cause too much electrical noise :)

It will be fine under the processor.

Thank you aswell.

I just absolutely hate having something so far off and taking up valuable board space, and now it'll make the board a little neater looking aswell. :)

I remembe seeing a recommendation just recently about running +5v and gnd directly under the PIC lengthways to help remove noise, maybe this could also be a consideration for you.

I placed one many times...
What you need to consider is power cables over the crystal line and to keep crystal lines short....
For whom the interrupts toll...

P.S. I've been inactive for almost a year... Don't give promises but I'll try to complete my tutorials. I'll let you know when..

Cheers!

Here are some pics of the completed board. Give me some suggestions I should consider or integrate into the board.

Yea, it would be called that, but with a PIC, and now I'm thinking if I should write a tutorial on this, for the minority of PIC users and the like who want to use them.
