ft232rl problem
« on: June 26, 2009, 08:03:37 AM »
a while ago I was working on a ft232rl chip. When I plugged it in there was a little pop up on windows that said  "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it". After a quick scan of the circuit I found that I had connected tx to the tx of my microcontroller and rx to the rx of my microcontroller (I didn't have a program on the microcontroller). So, I fixed that problem but am still getting the same message. Does that mean I fried my ft232 chip?

BTW I hope I haven't posted this problem before....

Trumpkin,

I'm not sure if I have good news:

I had this problem several times on my Blackberry -each time that device error came up, it meant that the chip was fried.
