Sell me a Microcontroller for the $50 robot
« on: August 09, 2009, 10:37:47 AM »
You guys are going to want to kick me out of here after this post but please don't. I have built three of the ones in the instructions for the $50 robot and none of them work. I do not need the ATmega8 processor just the board complete in ever other way. I am also buying an Axon to get me past this issue. Buying one is not cool but maybe it will help me figure out what the heck I am doing wrong!

Embarrassed but not giving up.

did you try to trouble shoot them at all? do connectivity tests (make sure that all of your connections are good)  did you install everything the right way round?  (didn't put in the LED backwards, or put in the ic wrong?)

maybe upload pics of your attempts and we could look at them
use the google.  it's your friend.

The programmer does not know it is there. I just need a sample that works.

Thanks

Which programmer?

Do voltages test fine with a multimeter?

The expensive programmer, right?

What color LEDs show on it?

Actually bought everything on the list, if you mean the one with the LEDs then yes.
Not sure what color never lit up and it is installed correctly. I have already ordered an Axon and just want to figure out what i am doing wrong with the ones i built. Being a hands on show type person I thought getting one that I knew worked would help. Does that make sense (it might not make cents but if i figure it out I will have three controllers)?

Thanks
Nuby

When you get time, check the LEDs on the programmer. It'll tell you exactly whats wrong. ;D

And the programmer manual will tell you what LED color means what . . .

If the LED never turns on then you might have a connection problem with the computer. otherwise there should be one led that is solid green. And another that is orange or green . if the one that should be orange/green is red, then you have a connection problem (either you arent powering the board, or your pins are wrong)
some people are just Born smart, but some people have to work for it, and those are the people who succeed.
