Blinking LED

Link to datasheet and circuit: http://www.national.com/mpf/LM/LM555.html i go this timer IC and wanted to hook it up to two LED's in parallel, do would the first resistor be hooked up to the ouput, and then what is the symbol coming from the capacitor. The one with 3 lines all getting smaller? And should capacitors be the same value? And what value should the resistors be? And finally what goes into the trigger?

by first resistor, do you mean for the leds?
the symbol with 3 lines is ground...
i have no idea about the other questions

no, the ones in the diagram, im using 330 ohm resistors

The circuit in the Datasheet is a Monostable Multivibrator Circuit or one short circuit, you can read more int here

If you went to have a blinking LED, you need a 555 oscillator circuit. read here
