Data loggers

I have read the article on data loggers and I want to build one. However I am not really sure how to connect my microcontroller up with  a USB cable to my computer. some pictures or something would be nice.

Heres a link on using HyperTerminal to hook up a PIC16F84 to your computer via a serial port. http://www.electronic-engineering.ch/microchip/projects/rs232/rs_test/rs_test.html

A USB connection, i think, is much more difficult. I would recommend going with serial, although if USB is totally needed, then there are tutorials for that aswell. Remember - google is your friend

It would be handy to know which type of MCU you plan on using.

I guessing that I will be useing a pic16f870, or a pic16f84.
