Yeah, but sadly enough, how many of those accounts are active? Have more than 10 posts? Have been online since 2007?

You got it right smash, look at how much have posted more than 10 or have been active within the last month, or make an effort to help people or post knew topics.
 
But think of it this way, one day we too wont be able to post regularly, may not post over the course of a month. But i will sure be around for a long time yet.

but number of posts does help to see is someone is contributing like admin with 8000 posts and smash with 3000

Very true, you never know what the person does in the real world... or answers questions/asks questions in real life, person to person (That's generally where I get my help/info from)

For me i know nobody in the real world that knows what a microcontroller does...

You'll find once you start university or college educations within these areas of study you'll find like minds and people with some of these like interests. I also found like I was the only one who was interested in this stuff, but it turns out that when I asked some people they also had an interest and some knowledge of it.

Ask around, you may be surprised. :)

where i go to school maybe 10 kids no what some basic electronics parts, and half of them are my friends that i have shown

Same, there are only 3 or 4 people that i know who know what a resistor is.

And most of what i know about robotics came from SoR.
