Thanks a lot for the positive feedback!

The complete title of my PhD was:

The MultiTasking Rover: A planetary terrestrial exploration rover system. It was in the area of space robotics. I worked alone on it and took me 5 years.

The video was made sometime during the summer of 2005. The cables coming of are motor/logic power and comms. It now supports wifi and has 220 Wh of lithium polymer on-board. I will soon be making the second generation model:))

What is not shown on the video is:
-Full 360 body rotation (around the axis that links the two pairs of legs to the body)
-Tip-over recovery 
-Wheel-Walking
-Picking-up tools using hooks on the body. In the Pic you can see a Battery Pack being picked-up

Worked on this for 5 years? I'm betting you were sick of it by year #3 . . . I say that as I'm getting pretty tired of working on my robot fish research, and I'm on year #4.

Making it is the fun part, its the repetitive rigorous scientific testing and the half dozen science papers on it that gets dreary. I finished building it 2.5 years ago, and all I've been doing since is testing it and writing papers.

I definitely see where you come from - this is always a phase you need to go through, but trust me in the end it pays off.

Its towards the end it gets really rough, but this will make you feel sooo much better when you are done

Well thats just it, robots are never done. There is always a new interesting research problem to study with the same hardware

The thing is with any science problem, by the time you really fully understand the science, after many years, you get bored of it and want to learn something new.

Does everywhere include reading through a mostly useless pile of papers and diplomatics, so you can see what others have though and what they did.... etc etc etc...
And science gets more to politics etc etc etc....
Same stuff everywhere I guess!!!
