Amplifier tutorial
« on: December 16, 2009, 05:25:58 PM »
Hey guys

I just got done making a tutorial that attempts to squeeze a few weeks worth of university into 5 minutes. Thought you might be interested in seeing it. I cover non-inverting op amp amplifiers and show you a practical microphone amplifier circuit. How is this relevant to robotics? Well... lets say you have a sensor that only puts out tiny analog voltages, and you want to connect that to your robot's microcontroller's ADC. Instead of pulling your hair out working with a range of 50mVp-p, you could use an amplifier to increase the signal to 5Vp-p, which would use the full range of your ADC, making it easier to process the signal.

Thanks for the tutorial!! (admin posted it in videos section too  :D )

It would be great if you could make another tutorial with more output stuff, like how to get rid of the negative voltage or smooth the output voltage out, etc.

Hmmm what negative voltage?
I am thinking about doing a quick tutorial on passive filters, so that may be what you mean by smoothing the output voltage out.

Great tutorial! I lol'd when the cat stated eating the mic.
Save yourself the typing. Just call me Zach.
