Title: Molex crimpers
Post by: Titus on April 25, 2008, 03:47:39 AM
Dear Society of robotics,

First of all, Thanks for the great tutorial,
secondly, I'm having troubles with the crimpers,
I can't seem to find one that works; Not a single shop seems to have them.(I live in the netherlands)
So I wondered;
Would this pair of crimpers work?
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1277
Or could you advice me on an other pair of crimpers.
The faster i can get them the better.
Or perhaps a way to do this without the crimpers?

Though I got a limmeted budget, I'm willing to spend arround 75 dollar including shipping to europe.

Please help me out,
The robot competition is very soon(robocup Junior for The Netherlands)

Thanks!

Titus

Will those crimpers do the kind of crimping in the "wire connector tutorial"?

I found these crimpers.

Do these work?

Also I have my doubts of Curious Inventor. Are they legit.

Yes they work.  I have those.  And CI is legit, and is decently priced. (Not related to CI)

Personally I just use needle nose pliers, I've never had a problem with any of my connections

Hey Titus,

Thanks for the link to an affordable pair of crimpers!  I ordered the crimpers, received them today, and they work great!  Considering the price these are excellent quality.  I've used extremely expensive crimpers for other tasks before and I can say that this is the best quality to price ratio I've ever seen in a pair!

Thanks again for the find,

Russ

I have two of these very same crimpers for sale if anyone's interested.  Brand new, works great.  I must've crimped 3 or 4 connectors on one of these, the other is untouched. $10 each, free S&H.  (Continental US only)

Too bad I'm in Denmark then, or I would take them both off your hand.
If you could be persuaded to send them overseas, I would pay the postage of course, then please drop me an email.

You know i was about to order those crimpers, but i was browsing radioshack and they had them for ~$7 and the Nibbler for ~$9. ;D

They both work vary well
