Hello frnd..
I am Nikesh
Iam doing a project based on Agribot. In my project I have used four DC motors to run four wheels of my vehicle .
I have connected motor shaft directly to wear to minimize the losses.
My question is that i haven't used any gears. so how far it is good and how much it is advantageous than geared system. the total weight is 5kg.. please reply me fast

The Gear is used to make project compact. Instead of using four dc motors you can use 1 dc motor with gears.
