Title: NASA's Robonaut video on testing it for space
Post by: Admin on April 22, 2010, 10:34:52 PM
As you guys probably already know, Robonaut (http://robonaut.jsc.nasa.gov/) is finally going into space.

A quick fun video describing whats going on . . .

NASA to launch R2 to join Space Station Crew (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lY-SJyS18lA#ws)

Wow, that is cool! Although I wonder if the idea of Robonaut in space will one day make manned space flight obsolete, which would suck. Think of all the savings in using Robonaut versus astronaut, no limit on the duration of space flight since it does not eat, lose bone and muscle mass, and get lonely. And no need to maintain an breathable and comfortably warm atmosphere on spacecrafts. Not to mention transporting all those sacks of water (humans) to and from the space station.

I agree, that thing is very cool.  Now let's see someone try to design a robot that can navigate in a 0G environment... That'd be interesting.
