Title: 48v golf cart motor project
Post by: nexus881 on April 21, 2011, 01:51:49 AM
Alright guys, i have a plan that i want to do but don't know how to do it, I'm not an electrician or a genius, what i want to do is make a Remote controlled paintball gun, its going to be heavy which is why the big motor, i am wanting to use an xbox 360 controller as the transmitter device. The functions that it will be doing will be using most all of the buttons and joysticks. one will be used for panning of the paintball gun, the other joystick will be used for the steering and speed controll the d-pad will be used for a camera and the other functions i thing you get, what i need to know is how to make the electronics to controll something with that much voltage going to the motor, I'm planning on making it a skid steer with treads.

Hi,

I'm not an electrician or a genius,
Many electricians wouldn't be able to pull this off, so perhaps you're in over your head.

Can you follow an electronics schematic?
Can you trouble shoot a non-working electronic circuit?
Can you solder reliably?

If any of the above gets a "no", you'd probably be wasting both time and money on such a project.

It sounds like a very cool but very ambitious project. If I had to tackle such a project, I'd consider building a smaller scale prototype first, try an RC car as a platform. Then you can break down your tasks into smaller chunks:

I guess that my point is, its better to start small and build up to your eventual goal. Don't be discouraged, but start with the basics and move on up!

Alright, i am going to break it down to a smaller scale, i first want to build the track system but i cant find anywhere that has a picture of how to do so, i know youtube would probably have some vids on it some where, any idea where i could actually find a schematic of it?

That's the beauty of building something yourself. You can build it however you want. Try to find some good pictures of a system similar to yours and you will have a starting point.
