Help! (motors, HDPE)

 Ok.. I've started thinking about my robot but if you get HDPE what size do you need? then how thick do i need? What size motor is best? Please help! I want it to look like his 2 wheeled robot in the beginner tutorial by the way... http://www.societyofrobots.com/images/materials_HDPEexample.JPG

Sorry about the double-post, but what can i find of use in an old 95 Windows monitor that can help when you are making a robot?

It depends on the size and weight of your robot. Just try and plan out where your parts go to get general dimensions. On that robot, I used .25" HDPE, and I think it was 1' x 1' dimensions. I used a bandsaw to cut it, but a common handheld hack saw can cut HDPE really fast too.

What size motor is best?

If you are ever unsure, get the motor that has more torque and lower rpm.

capacitors and wiring that is good for robot power electronics, for sure . . . screws too? i dunno what else open it up!

if you have plans about opening your monitor, WEAR SAFETY GLOVES AND GLASSES!!!
those bastards contain like 25 000V (yep, 25 thousand Volts).
and becarefull, i always unsolder the big capacitator and the flyback transistor, aswell as remove the monitor itself...
but it might be another better way, anyone know?

yea just short the power wires while wearing gloves to discharge the cap . . .

i should have warned you  , but i assumed you hadnt powered it for years . . .

Thanks guys, and no i haven't opened it up yet so thanks. Although I dint quite understand that tutorial- being in the seventh grade- I think ill just wing that part. But I will take the advice on HPDE and safety glasses, so forth. So thanks again guys I'll just play it cool. I wont forget K.I.S.S.(Keep It Simple Stupid).  ( I like smileys)
