USB programer help
« on: June 03, 2010, 12:33:27 AM »
Hi all,
This is my first post on this forum!
SoR is great but now its time to build that robot!

I have built the $50 robot but I don't know which programmer to use.
My computer only has USB compatibility and I have heard rumors that USB to Serial is problematic.
Which programmer do you suggest.
My MCU uses the ATmega168 AVR and I hope to use AVR STUDIO.

One more thing, it needs to be available to AUSTRALIA and have ten pins(to the controller)

And Admin said "Let there be robots!"
And it was good.

Well I'm in Aussie and I ordered the AVR ISP2 programmer at Ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/AVRISP-Atmel-STK500-AVR-ISP-programmer-USB-/320372505646?cmd=ViewItem&pt=BI_Electrical_Equipment_Tools&hash=item4a97b07c2e

It has a 10 pin connection and has a separate cable to attach to 6 pin connections.
Although it's sold from Hong Kong the shipping was free and it came pretty quickly anyway.

Funny, I also posted about this.

Hope this helps!  :)
