$50 bot parts
« on: September 04, 2009, 07:37:09 PM »
Hello bots builders,

I am new to this society and I really really need help with the $50 robot.

I have read the tutorial very many times but when I went to get the parts for it, I couldn't find very many of them.

I have tried ebay, I have tried on the sponsor robotshop.com and I have tried retail store but the problem is that I can't find the parts like 5v linear regulator or AT mega 8 AVR or 220uFT Electrolytic Capacitor or any of the stuff! In fact, the only things I have found are the servo and a 1.6k ohm resistor(the tutorial asked for a 1.62k ohm resistor though)

All the stuff that I am looking for seem to have different names and slightly different than what the tutorial specified.

What should I do?
Please help!

have you tried futurlec.com/futurlec.com.au?
they're prices are dirt cheap, and the shipping is worldwide and cheap.
where abouts in the world do you live?

hey thanks,

I just tried it but is

0.1uF 50V Ceramic Capacitors
the same as
0.1uf Ceramic Capacitor?

Some of the other names are slightly different from the ones in the tutorial and that is the biggest problem I am having, know what is what and what is not.

Sorry, I know these are dumb questions but I have absolutely no prior knowledge in electronics at all.

I greatly appreciate your help!

btw, I live in Canada.

If you happen to live in Toronto, try Creatron store, they have all the electronics needed and a lot of SparkFun parts and Arduinos.
Check out the uBotino robot controller!

All of the $50 electrical parts (except for the servos) in one package:
