Dc motors problem
« on: March 27, 2009, 12:45:08 AM »
I encountered a problem due to slowest dc motor rotation. I had built line follower microcontrollerless but the result i got is when i put on the floor it does not move at all. But before i put on the floor, dc motor still can rotating. My battery source is 9v. The chip i using is L293D and left dc motor wire connect to pin 3 and 6 while right dc motor connect to pin 11 and 14.

1) What should i do to make it move intermediate or little bit fast speed? ???
2) What should i provide the info to the seller so that they will understand what the dc motor requirement i need (some of them dont know details about dc motor such like watt, current flow on it and etc) ? ;D
3)What the type of DC motor should i buy now? please write down with full details about dc motor you say and if can show example of the dc motor speed rotation in video so i could request the seller to test on the dc motor before i buy it. :D
4) I really need from you all guidance *ASAP* ;)

i source 9v battery to the chip L293D and left dc motor wire connect to pin 3 and 6 while right dc motor connect to pin 11 and 14. But the dc motor run very slow and after i put on the floor to let it move, it doesnt move at all. So i dont know what type of the dc motor i should buy. It does not carry any heavy load on the body but just carry with the small pcb board circuit. Info is similar to this website http://www.societyofrobots.com/member_tutorials/node/59

Did you attach the wheel directly to the DC motor? Is the DC motor geared?

ya i attached with wheel that made by CD.  :D. I think it is not dc motor geared. This dc motor i think did not approach 100 rpm. The dc motor is looks similar to the website i given before. :'(

Hi,

You're trying to drive a fairly large load from a PP3???
No wonder it won't work!

Get a decent power source or get the Laws of Thermodynamics nullified  ;D
Get at least AA cells (6 pcs. for 9V if alkaline primary cells7 pcs. if NiMH or NiCd).
Regards,
Søren

A rather fast and fairly heavy robot with quite large wheels needs what? A lot of power?
Please remember...

between that what is pp3? I using power supply 9v source.
I just want dc motor recommendation from you all

do you know how much load the motor will carry? and are you ok with using servos? they have a gearbox and motor controller built in for more fun!

maybe i will consider about the dc motor you recommend. ;D Is it inexpensive? :P . Well after i read from this webpage about dc motor http://lancet.mit.edu/motors/motors3.html#torque, solution is dc motor for 100 RPM the high torque is needed with gear output while for more than RPM, the lowest torque. So maybe i need to buy dc motor gear output with high torque

if you mean servos then yes! there are a wide range out the and im sure you will find one that suits your needs.and they are generally cheaper than the equivilent motor, controller, gearbox and they come with mounting hardware! :)

Finally i got the answered for what i want now. ;D Well after i bought the dc motor gear output yesterday, i found it works ;). After i read through the website i given on the top there then i understood what i should buy the dc motor gear. The more load u carry then the higher torque and voltage is needed. :P
