Servo Power Voltage

Has anyone powered a standard 6V hobby servo at 12V?  Will it kill the servo?  I have powered them at 7.2V with no problem.

I have 12V batteries on my robot and want to power several servos.  The load could add up to several amps, so I don't really want to regulate the voltage down to 6V.  Are there any 12V servos out there that take the standard hobby servo PWM for position command?

nope, youll fry em. im sure there are hobby servos out there that take 12-24V or 12-18V and use pwm but i have yet to encounter one. ill take a look see. whats your price range? and have you considered motor controllers and dc motors?

Nope none will take over 12v. There are some expensive ($90 a pop) high voltage servos from JR that run at a max 9v (for use with 2s lipos that max out at 8.4v).

nope, i guess you will have to regulate the power or use a motor controller with a dc. :-\

Use a speed controller connected to an MCU instead of a receiver?
