I have not had any time to use micro servos, but have read some material on them.
I have use industrial motors and servos, but still, modular repair was what was done on them.
I would imagine, to acquire positional feedback without pots would guide you into infrared
detection, or some light triggered metering device.
In the book, "
Programming the propeller with Spin", page 204 - 205, indicates
counting the
pulses that was given to the servo. The pulses equate to time, in which, pulses can be converted to
degrees of change.(
scales of movement) They compared a pot reading from an analog to digital
convertor would be 0 to 4,095; whereas a signal pulse goes from 750 to 2,250 microseconds.
The cheaper cost of the control is replaced with the labor/memory consumed to program this
control program. But, at least, another option. Good Luck!!!!
