$200 contest ideea
« on: May 19, 2007, 03:00:59 AM »
OK, I want to participate to this contest. I have different ideas, but not sure if they will be what other people want to see or build themselves.

I want some feedback from people, what kind of robot YOU would like to see and have instructions to replicate?

General restrictions:
- no PC on-board (or laptop)
- no more than 4 servos

I will build it using parts that I allready bought and recovered from printers, CD-ROMs, VCRs. You can ask for any feature, if I don't have the parts will skip it.

If I don't get any good ideas I will chose one of mine, so come on, now is your chance to have instructions to build your dream robot!

Do like me, read all the tutorials here. Brainstorm all the robots you have ever saw. Forget about the ones that were explained here (which is not that much, except for the very vary basic ones). Choose your idea from the remainders.
I just hope you wont choose the same robot I chose.

Hey, I just wanted to know if there is someone out there that wants to build a robot different than the ones presented and doesn't know how to do it.

I've got a few ideeas and I think I'm going to do something that involves more than one robot. We'll see if this ideea is doable with the parts that I allready have, because I can't buy other parts right now.

Multiple robots acting as an integrated system. That is an awesome idea in my opinion. I myself would love to see your work because I have never tried it before. Good luck! For myself I am actually quite lost. Right now I am build a pretty complex robot that I will for 2 competitions with similar tasks (it will resemble a bit ADMIN`s Taurus 2 but with a few more "abilities"), or I might build a 50$ autonomous flying robot, just because I want, because it is my hobby( I succeeded once but I don't call a remote controlled machine a robot so this previous project is out of question.) .
Good luck!

This time of the year I'm building my robot....
I'll have more than 4 servos..... but who cares....
That's shouldn't be a restriction... unless it's four servos for movement... (you exclude hexs here and biped...)

Basically, everyone know how to put together some servos and some circuit handmade or bought together....
And say hey, this is a robot...
What we must be "tested" on is functionality.... and what this robot is able to do.... unassisted.....
Which means that you write your code, and you don't reprogram for more functions...

That should be great and inspire us to make smarter coding....
