A new robotics community!
« on: August 16, 2017, 09:28:12 AM »
This week I launched on the crowdfunding site Patreon, https://www.patreon.com/perceptualrobots, to progress a new, innovative approach to autonomous robotics that overcomes some of the fundamental problems associated with conventional robotics. Feel free to join this new robotics community.

I'll be making the site and resources available to students for free, so if you are a student, and this sounds of interest send me a message directly and I'll add you to the list.

Two of the main problems of the conventional approach to robotics are that of the acquisition of models of the world and of coping with the unpredictable nature of the world. However, these are only a problem because of the misconceptions that lead to the conventional methodology.

By changing the methodology, with a radical, yet simple, re-engineering of the concepts and architecture of robotic systems, both of these problems are resolved. This is explained in more detail in my recent paper, http://www.mitpressjournals.org/doi/pdf/10.1162/ARTL_a_00229

I look forward to seeing you!

Regards,
Rupert
