Advertisement - Autonomous Game for Mobile Robots
« on: December 17, 2006, 09:59:37 PM »
8)  Hi,

I designed a program for my OPECER robot (a slightly modified POB-Bot robot) to play "Capture the Flag" ... the robot actually can see and perform assigned tasks based on clues set about the OPEC-CTF arena (a big maze of walls full of traps) ... see the video

The program allows the end-user to preset AI components for the robot to use as a guide towards finding the goal (the opposing teams HomeBase) ...

The default settings have no better value because the robot will be playing in various arenas ... so each user would have to decide if 90° turns are more valuable in a game than a 60° turn ... also choosing if the robot is in doubt should it turn AlwaysLeft or AlwaysRight ...

Future versions of the game will include First Person Shooter Laser Tag! Yes, by using a laser pointer the robot will be able to shoot at targets in windows, on the walls or even try a "kill shot" on an opposing teams robot!

Version 1.0 of the program costs US$20 ...

Version 1.0 loaded into an OPECER Robot ready to play costs US$600 ...

Ahhh, but you can buy the POB-Bot at many online shops cheaper and make the extremely simple modifications and add my $20 program and be up an running in an hour ...

or, you can buy the "Golden Pack" POB-Bot package direct from POB-Technology and add the simple mods ...

Because this program is so generic to the bots, future planned versions will control other robots including the RoboNova-1, RoboSapien v1, BoeBot and myriad other robots ...

Those who buy a license before Christmas 2006 will get all the updates and future versions throughout 2007 gratis ... others may have to pay for updates ...

... be sure to include your email address to receive your copy of the program!

Here is a test video ... you can see the robot misses some of the clues on the walls ... but eventually it finds the castle for a score ...

The manual for version 2.0 also covers ver. 1.0 but with more features ...
http://www.brainless.org/MultiMedia/Robotics/Documentation/OPEC-CTF/OPEC-CTF-v2-Manual.pdf

And after you get started, then imagination takes over to build bigger and better and different gaming arena's ... I'm tyring to figure out how to make mine like one of the castles in Quake ... just think of how cool it would be for the robot to have to traverse under a waterfall? The umbrella would have to push out of a protective tube horizontally first, open up, then swing up vertical to protect the robot ... after the robot has safely passed hazard and is in the clear, the umbrella would spin off the water, swing down to the horizontl position and close while packing away back into the protective tube ... and when the robot sees a monster or enemy teamember it would aim and shoot a laser for points by hitting a photo-sensor on the target ...

There is no limit to the fun and imaginational changes to the game using autonomous robots ... and it all starts with a robot that can simply play the game!
