This is Google's Analytics map plot of where SoR gets the most visits from (see attachment).

Interestingly for cities, there is a giant bubble in Singapore (1.33%) and another in Toronto (1.39%).

As for countries,
1. US
2. UK
3. Canada
4. India

I find it interesting that Thailand beats Japan by a significant amount . . .

Actually I should clarify a bit. The bubbles are only the top 100 cities, plotted from 955,233 pageviews in the last 1.5 years.

So even 1% is almost 10,000 . . . . my city (DC) only had .65%, so Im having trouble believing you visit more than I do

That is because here in Japan there is already a excessive amount of homepages and forums like SoR (not to mention all the books and publications available).
And the Japanese usually don't like reading in English either.
I visit this page because I like getting all the information available, no mater the language. And, of course, because this page is very good.

I also lived in Japan for 2 years. I used to work for big Japanese imaging company, nowadays I'm working for a smaller Japanese imaging company.

English literacy in Japan was low when I was there. Most of those speaking English are teens in college, or technology professionals. One will be totally alienated there if he/she doesn't speak even a little Japanese.

The good thing about Japan is Akihabara. Wow, I miss that place. Need anything electronic, 2nd hand, parts for your robots, oscilloscopes, a day spent in Akihabara is a day well spent!

So now can I represent, the Philippines, Japan and US?

In Thailand there is a street called Baan Maaw (literal translation is pot house, because they used to sell pottery, not pot . . .). Anyway, the street is exactly how you described Akihabara. It goes on for like half a mile, and everything is dirt cheap (1/10th the price of something new). But unfortunately since Thailand isnt a 1st world country, the 'pot' on the street is all outdated tech by 5-10 years $:-\$

Ill make sure I live near Akihabara when I go to Japan next year

I was in Akihabara last year, fantastic place!

It massive and quite confusing, but thats part of the fun! robot dreams have a google map with locations of the big robot stores which is handy, which you can find here.here

I really got to go back at some stage.

hehehe... I live 45 min from Akiba(akihabara).
When I used to live in Osaka I used to go to a place very similar to akihabara, but smaller. It is called Denden town. Anyways, Most of the big cities in Japan have electronic towns, Akiba is famous just because it is in Tokyo, and believe me THAT is akiba's problem. It is so famous that is crowded. And sometimes you cant find a specific item because it is sold out. Then you have to visit other places or order online.

Nice map but it has only 7 stores out of 14. They are missing very famous shops like Akidzuki and Multiparts. Not to mention the "obscure shops" where you can get really good bargains.

Man, I think I should write a tutorial about Akihabara. If someone is coming to Japan, Kantou area and wants to visit Akiba, contact me and I might even guide you.

i wish i could go to one of these electronics bazaar type towns... im stuck ordering online and getting blown for shipping most of the time. even my local radio shack has nothing, and the people there are... less intelligent?
