Post by: Bubbles on January 25, 2008, 10:14:14 PM
i have been looking for the programmer for the $50 dollar robot ( hence the title  :P ) but sparkfun only have this one in stock:

http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=13

is this the same except for the connection into the computer and therefore a replacement for the serial one?

Yes, it should be, though you might want to compare the two's specifications just to make sure

New computers don't come with parallel ports, so if you plan to get a new computer this dongle will become useless for you.

I suggest just spending $30 on a MKII programmer as an investment.

But yea, based on what you linked, it will work.
