Computing and Electronics

Hi

I am thinking of studying a degree course called Computing and Electronics

It's a course that involves programming and robotics

Up to I now I only know that I need to be studying/introducing myself to the programming language C++

I am currently reading the programming language C ("C" as in the programming language before C++...etc)

My problem is that I don't have any sort of imaginary image - no knowledge about how to program chips in order to insert the program from the C++ compiler in to a moving robotic arm or some sort of robotic project where I am meant to construct a form of physically moving robot

Would someone please care to explain the to me in simple words the process of this "converting-program-into-a-physically-moving-object-or-robot"

Also

I don't know if this helpful or not, but I am using Linux Ubuntu the operating system. I'm learning how to use Code Blocks IDE as my C/C++ compiler

Thanks in advance :)
