About the lesson
Hi, Adam here! I'm currently a thirdyear undergraduate student at the University of Texas at Dallas working on a double major in Physics and Applied Mathematics. I plan on pursuing a specialization in Cosmology through my doctoral studies, and ultimately want to pursue a career in academia (research/lecturing). I've been a tutor for almost 5 years now, teaching all levels of highschool mathematics and some collegelevel math courses as well. The only science courses I teach are Physics 1 (Mechanics) and Physics 2 (Electromagnetism and Waves), which are combined as one course known as Physics C for those of you in highschool. I typically begin each lesson by reviewing/teaching any material or concepts that are the most difficult for the student, answering any questions they may have as well. The rest of the lesson will consist of homework help and helping the student understand new material. The most important thing to me when it comes to these lessons is fostering an environment of mutualrespect where the student feels supported and comfortable asking questions. There will never be a patronizing moment during my lessons, as I try to be as constructive and positive as possible. Our goal is not perfection, but improvement. Although there will be frustration and feelings of discouragement at times, it is important to remember that progress is the mission.

About Adam
I have 4+ years experience working both as an independent privatetutor and for a tutoring company. I currently work as a tutor for Gideon Math & Reading Center, teaching group lessons in math and reading subjects as well as private tutoring Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, and PreCalculus. I've held this position for over three years now, but i've also worked on my own as a privatetutor for almost 5 years, teaching middle school to collegelevel mathematics and science. The subjects i've taught independently are PreAlgebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, PreCalculus, Calculus 1 (Differential), Calculus 2 (Integral), Calculus 3 (Improper Integrals and Series), Multivariable Calculus, Physics 1 (Mechanics), and Physics 2 (Electromagnetism and Waves). I've helped over 50 students oneonone throughout these years with great success. Many of my students have seen increases of 2 letter grades over the course of their time with me, with the majority reaching their desired grades. One of my Calculus 2 students during the Spring semester of 2019 went from an average of 67 to 92 in 6 weeks. I take great pride in my students' successes and hope to continue helping those struggling or trying to stay ahead.
