Android robot control app
« on: January 31, 2011, 09:09:45 PM »
Hey guys,

I recently wrote an app using App Inverntor for my Android phone and thought I'd share it if anyone was interested. It was made for my Samsung Galaxy S (Froyo, 480 x 800 screen).

All the action buttons/check boxes can be programmed to send out whatever text you like over a bluetooth connection.

Current limitations:
-non-fluid layout (all buttons are hard coded to a position). This means that it may not work well on screens with less res than 480 x 800.
-no multi threading, which means no receiving of information, only sending.

I have source code for the Axon using Webbotlib also if you can't be bothered writing your own.

Cheers

Edit: can't upload the .apk file. It's too big. PM me your email address if you want it.

I'm curious, how do you communicate with the Axon?

It communicates using bluetooth.

Yeah still too large. The file shrunk from 1,173 KB to 1,168 KB lol.

Google says it can't be done at the moment. Haven't looked into it any more than this.

Did you design the gait in my Gait Designer and use the Gait Runner part of WebbotLib ?
If so I'd like to add a link to it from the WebbotLib website - if its ok with you

How are you able to connect over bluetooth?

I've never tried my Axon with Andriod, but I tried an arduino. The problem I kept running into was that it wouldn't pair with the device and had to use Armarino to pair the bluetooth (Andriod meets Arduino).

I am using the BlueSmirf and it connects fine to Android. I don't think the Axon really has much to do with the connection, just receiving the data
