$50 bot, linux & AVRISP MKII........
« on: July 31, 2008, 01:43:25 AM »
ok, this is my first bot.  I have the mechanics, chassis & electronics assembled, as per the 6-pin variation for the AVRISP MKII usb device.  I also have the AVRISP MKII, and a slackware linux pc.

Not quite sure exactly what I need software wise.  I have found both gcc-avr, libavr and avrdude referenced in relation to AVRISP MKII.  What experience have ppl had, if any, with these? are these 3 tools enough to program & compile my bot? relatively new to programming, (& linux), but will be fine once I get my tools together.....
I was so disappointed to learn that half the people I know are under average........but the other half more than make up for it.

I'm pretty much in the exact same boat. I am not a programmer by trade, but I can do it a little, I use Linux (Ubuntu), but I am not sure how to convert the $50 dollar robot programming so a linux GCC-AVR program can compile it and load it on the AVR. Is there a community for Linux robot hobbyists?
