hi all!!! am new to this, and need as much info as possible but dumb it down for me to lol.  Am wanting to build a robot from scratch. i want it to be able to move round the room with out banging in to things recognise a voice command and have some sort of interactivity a built in video phone web cam with remote user interface an hover (make it use full) an know when to go and charge itself, am i dreaming with this ? what sort of computer parts will i need to run this could i use a lap top intergrated on it to run the extras ? any ideas pep?

Start with the 50$ robot to get used to basics, then take it from there, no point on developing an air plane cockpit if your wings aren't done yet.

Besides the $50 robot tutorial there are many other good, simple tutorials and articles on SoR. All of these is a good starting point. If you need additional details google and Wiki have more.
