Title: Confused and lost...
Post by: Nybras on September 12, 2006, 04:52:58 AM
Hi,
I don't really know much about circuits, only what school has taught me so it comes as no suprise that I don't understand them well. I was wondering if someone could offer me some help with creating a circuit, I'm not sure how basic it is, it would include two cervos though.
All I would need is a diagram or something, thank you in advance.

For the servoes there are normally three wires +5,GND, and control.
for the control you can use a 555 timer (IC). use a pot to control the frequency which causes the servo to adjust its angle accordingly.
the below site has 555 examples as well as a timing calculator. you want to play with values so that your cap gives you about 1.5 ms period and the pot values let you go + or - 0.25ms allowing for the full 180 degrees of the servo.

Hope that helps

What specifically would you like the circuit to do?

A good way to start designing a circuit is to write down a block diagram of all the features you want it to do, then start web searching for circuit diagrams and IC's that have those features.

For example, you mentioned servos. First what you would do is read up on servos and figure out how they are controlled.

Then you would search for circuits that send those types of signals. The 555 timer that sdk32285 mentioned is a good start.
