Title: ohmic current sensors - still being sold?
Post by: Admin on May 04, 2015, 07:23:14 AM
I'm looking for some smd ohmic current sensors, up to 10A, preferably soic 8 pin. Unfortunately my circuit has massive magnetic field noise so need the resistive type.

They were very common 10 years ago, but it seems the entire industry has moved to hall effect current sensors.

Anyone seen them being sold anywhere? I still see current sense resistors being sold, so someone must be need them . . .

 ;D Hello!
I found that Mouser has the item you are looking for, up to 200 watts.
They sell it as basic 4 kelvin current sensor. By the name, I would assume
that the calculations are based on heat. They are very accurate.  :)
 This link has the PDF info that will help;
www.mouser.com/pdfDocs/Ohmite_CSResistors.pdf (http://www.mouser.com/pdfDocs/Ohmite_CSResistors.pdf)

Good luck!  ;D ;D ;D

 :) Hello!
At this site;
http://www.ohmite.com (http://www.ohmite.com)
Has the item you are looking for. Select the current sensing part in the
web page, and it will take you to the various products they offer.  8)

It wasn't the resistors I needed, but the sensors . . .   :P

Anyway, I found them here:
http://www.digikey.com/product-search/en/integrated-circuits-ics/linear-amplifiers-instrumentation-op-amps-buffer-amps/2556125?stock=1 (http://www.digikey.com/product-search/en/integrated-circuits-ics/linear-amplifiers-instrumentation-op-amps-buffer-amps/2556125?stock=1)

They were listed as op-amps and not as current sensors.
