Title: l298
Post by: tipipliou on December 18, 2010, 06:31:52 AM
hi
is there anyway to know if the l298 is damaged?(simple method, not in circuit).
i have two of them(they have been used before),i don't know if they're OK.
I don't want to try them in my circuit cause I 'm afraid they'll damage my microcontroler.
thanks
PS:sorry for english mistakes

You will need to wire them up but this could be done on a breadboard. Use a couple of power resistors for the motors (load resistors) and resistor pull ups and switches or jumpers on the logic.
Then with the data sheet and a voltage meter set inputs for each of the conditions in the truth table and measure the voltage across the load resistors.
This will determine if the chip still has nominal function.
