What's this called?
« on: March 17, 2012, 07:40:14 AM »
I'm trying to find a socket for a connector coming off some motors I scavenged from an old printer. My main problem is I don't know what these connectors are called, anyone know?

Thanks

Joe

It looks like this flat ribbon by Molex:
http://search.digikey.com/us/en/cat/cable-assemblies/ffc-fpc-flat-flexible-ribbon-jumpers/1573391?k=flat%20ribbon

http://www.molex.com/pdm_docs/sd/210390269_sd.pdf

Go through the list and find the correct pitch (pin separation) and look up ribbon cable connector. There are 2600 of them in digikey.

I've seen those, but they have individual wires bonded together. What I have is a flat plastic strip with connections sort of printed on it (no individual wires). Thanks for checking though.

Hi,

The link was good, it's the FCC connectors.
Here's other examples:
http://www.qantas-hk.com/connector2.htm

They're everywhere - Don't you have an old cell phone, a printer or a similar piece of equipment to sacrifice?
You can just use one that's wider if you can't find one that fits.

I have attached some pics of a 6 pole FCC connector from an old BC video recorder.
Regards,
Søren

A rather fast and fairly heavy robot with quite large wheels needs what? A lot of power?

Ok, thanks. Maybe I need to make an appointment with my optometrist.
