is it just me or are there ultrasonic sensorts mounted onto the third board fropm the desk that is for motion detection or something.

yeah its a ping ultrasonic range finder. what its for i don't know tho. iv downloaded his source code and have been playing with it with my two open stamp boards. lol its a rather interesting network structure, way way ahead of what i came up with for my max project..

its interesting, the only thing i could see it being useful for is the communication between boards aspect (could make that over ir, or wifi) in which case you could have many robots distributed about, but, wired together i dont see the point, why not just use a better processor (takes up less space and would be more powerful)
use the google.  it's your friend.

i think the idea was to show off the networking software perhaps. i agree that a better processor would be a way to go, but at the same time imagine doing this with 11 other chips that were really really fast. also with a wireless connection the multiple robots thing is rather cool. i hadn't thought of it like that before. this code could be used as a building block for a swarm bot program set perhaps..  Interesting. you got me thinking...

This has been done before but no video proof yet. I have seen this around 10 times, but just pictures so I don't believe it.

Also, is it just me, or is it hooked up to the computer through the audio port? It looks like it, only wire from stamps to the computer I can see.
