Mechanics and Construction / Re: New robotic toy coming out!
« Last post by mklrobo on June 25, 2021, 05:46:56 AM »
:D have no fear, I am still here!!  :D

I am completing the code, and the final assembly of the robot; debugging and
tweeking out any potential problems that I think may have. This is probably the most
time consuming part of invention, BUT, it sure is fun!!!  ;D
I may go back and make some GUI interfaces, to help in the construction of the
robot; kind of like, a robot construction wizard AI!   ;D
I am trying to make the construction of the robot so easy, that anyone with some robot
skills should be able to complete it in 3 hours, or an enjoyable weekend, - my goal, anyway.

Stay tuned, True Believers!!!!  EXCELSIOR!!!!   8)   8)

Misc / Beginner self-balancing-robot struggling with build...
« Last post by davek0974 on June 21, 2021, 06:15:50 AM »
Hi all,

I'm looking for help on a 1st build self balancing robot, something that seemed pretty easy but not. I'm retired so have plenty of time but no real robot skills, electrical & mechanical yes.

I have been trying to get it working for weeks now, I have a chassis with two Nema17 motors, 65mm wheels, it's 300mm high and the battery is at the top - a pretty standard style i think. I am using a Pi Pico as MCU with an MPU6050 IMU and two A4988 drives.

A friend on another group was building a game controller using the MPU6050 and has written a whole new driver for it that gives out filtered data - Kalman or Complimentary and it also does calibration etc. So i can get angle data OK I think.

I have tried my own codes and failed but also today tried another's code that was written specifically to show how easy it was - and it still failed for me.!

This tells me maybe the motors are no good or the MPU is a bad choice, he used a BNO055 IMU but these are currently expensive and/or hard to get.

The effect i get is that the bot will just jump about , even when static. Video - https://youtu.be/nNxNHaKN5w0

The code has a PID loop, makes little difference so far.

Is there maybe a recommended motor for these 'bots?

I am at a complete loss now as it seems nothing works, even code that is proven to work! It must be hardware???

Thanks for any help

for a robotic simulation, I am working with Blender. Freeware, that seems intuitive.

I bought an Axon, and electronic interface to program it, but never could. I gave up and went to raspberry pi. I always liked the Axon, but never had any luck with programming it.

the only cheap gyro to find, will probably be on ebay. They also have electronic boards that provide axis feedback for stability. good luck! 8)

Methinks it is a marketing gimmick; because, truly, there are so many Intelligent droids out there, it is unbelievable. I do know, that the main intelligence for Watson's AI mind, created by IBM, is called Monte Carlo. It is a statistical logistics engine capable of incredible work - hope that helps.

Electronics / NEW robotic toy plans coming out!
« Last post by mklrobo on June 18, 2021, 09:15:33 AM »
Hello everybody!

I have invented a new robotic toy, that everyone will enjoy, I hope!

It is a Raspberry pi 3 project. I will sell the plans for it, which includes instructional video, schematics, links to free software sites, how to install the freeware, and instrumentation of the robot.

The cost of the plans will be $20; about the same of a good python book you would buy, or the
cost of 2 favorite DVD movies. Once you have the plans, you can make as many as you want!
The estimated cost of the materials to build the robot is approx. $260. That included the cost of the raspberry pi 3, sensors, and mechanical components. To compare, some broken, not working parts for the HERO robot sell at $250 to $600 dollars, and you only get a broken robot. SAD!

I GURANTEE YOU that is nothing in the world on the market today, like the robot I am going to build!! I will release the web site link to download the plans, exclusively, here on Society of Robots!!!!!!

So, stay tuned, TRUE BELIEVERS! EXCELSIOR!!!!!
