Anti-accident technology will become a requirement like airbags, and combustion engines will get replaced by fuel cells. The industry is threatened by increasing telecommuters and Uber/Lyft alternatives. I suppose Zipcar is a dead company? When insurance becomes cheaper for safer autonomous cars, that's when autonomous cars will really kick off.
