I Have seen the light and I am going to switch over to another company but which one, could some one point me in the direction of a company that sells good microcontrollers (preferably programed in PBASIC)

Doesn't pbasic come from parallax, in which case I think it is made for parallax microcontrollers only. I do not know.

I should imagine that most popular microcontrollers (AVR, 8051, PIC, ARM) have some sort of programming language which is similar to BASIC, which I am guessing PBASIC is based on.

I myself have never programmed in basic, so a load of other SoR members may be able to help

microchip makes one of parallax basic stamp interpreter chips the PIC16C56A for there basic stamp one.

But what determines what a chip is programed in and how can I find

Here's a line of microcontrollers.  They are quite pricy, but they are very easy to program and are done in BASIC.  They aren't done in PBASIC, but you could do a little learning and get it down.  I used them with my friend and they are very easy, and have a good debugger with them that makes data collecting very easy.

You can also get a robot board, so you don't have to build anything from:

If you really get into robotics, you may begin to find BASIC quite limiting.  I found that out a while ago.  If you don't mind learning another programming language, I'd go with PICs
