Title: Building a treaded tank robot
Post by: ATRmaker on June 12, 2011, 05:51:58 AM

I need some help controlling this by laptop ( wireless )

My set up is :
4 24V motors reversible
2 Sabertooth Dual 12A Motor Driver
24V battery 5500mah

My Plan was to connect the motor drivers to arduino Uno ( any other suggestions ) and communicate either the PC through Xbee 2.4 ghz module. (any other suggestion )

I'm a beginner so keep it simple

Help would be greatly appreciated

All doable.

Before going to wireless get the communication working on a wired connection between the Arduino and the PC. Then insert a wireless module that just passes the serial data.

If you go with XBees then use the Series 1 modules running the straight 802.15.4 protocol. These are to easyest to get working and is all you need for a PC to Robot link.

My most important suggestion to th read all the the posts in the SoR forums. Many of the questions you will have have already been answered.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.
