Robotic Wrist for Water Fountain
« on: April 06, 2011, 06:49:37 PM »
Hi there,

Some colleagues and myself are trying to build a robotic wrist that runs on a DMX control system for a home made water fountain. If you know of the Bellagio hotel, you'll know it has a magnificent fountain in front of it that use robotic wrists to move some of the water jets. That's what we're thinking of, but on a much smaller scale.

The issue is this: we have a lack of knowledge regarding robotics. We know we need to have a wrist that can move in 2 dimensions (horizontal and vertical) and the best we've thought up is using RC servos to accomplish that task. That said, we are very worried proper waterproofing of the equipment.

Perhaps those of you on this forum would have some better solutions than we do. We would very much appreciate any input or ideas you might have.

There are some threads and a tutorial on how to water-proof RC hobby servos.

For ideas on how to build a wrist search and read through these forums.

Sounds like you need to hire someone to do the work.

Hiring someone doesn't give us the satisfaction of building it ourselves unfortunately. I'll skim the forums some more, thanks for your suggestion.
