Title: accuracy
Post by: Ana_Dig on December 08, 2013, 08:21:04 PM
Hi friends, I search after examples or videos or names of robots or machines that work in a very accurate scale something like one millimeter of accuracy or better accuracy, so if you know about a robot or machine that work very accuracy so I will glad if you can write this in this thread.

ultrasonic motors are used in camera autofocus for very precise and fast movements.

And piezo actuators work within the nanometer range:

Most CNC machines and many other machines used in manufacturing can operate well within 1mm of accuracy.

On a side note 1mm is not considered very accurate in many fields. As can be seen from the other posts there are many applications that require much higher tolerances.

Actually: Most CNC machines and many other machines used in manufacturing can operate well within 1/1000 of an inch which in 0.039mm or 39um and many can run much better than that.

or microscope probers in medical research and semiconductor mfg where sub-micron accuracy is common.
