Robot funding
« on: November 18, 2007, 08:46:15 PM »
I'm trying to solve a financial problem I have with the 50$ robot
http://www.societyofrobots.com/step_by_step_robot_step1.shtml
The parts cost around 50$, yes, but the shipping sends it up quite a ways... I searched around for deals, and when I went to ebay, I found a lot of people auctioning sets of 4 servos for a starting bid of like 1$...Has anyone ever bought a servo from ebay at such a low cost?  How well did they work?  Any other cost shortcuts for the 50$ robot are welcome :P!

I bought electronics parts on eBay once upon a time

for servos ( or any item) read the Listing very carefully and check the sellers feedback score. Also, check his feedback to see what other people said about the items he sold.

Email the seller with any questions

Also, try to buy all the parts from one place to save on shipping . ( i buy all my electronic parts from allelectronics.com)

if you are unsure of a listing just post the link to the listing and someone ( including me ) will check it out to see that its good.

I hate to sound too mean but uh..

Just pay more? If the 50$ robot is pushing your budget then your time with robotics might be short lived...   there not cheap, by anyone's terms.  That being said, check in your town.. sometimes there are little stores(rc stores normally) that have some stuff you need
