Title: robotic leg design

Hey everyone, I am in the process of designing a robot, for the legs I am struggling to find out what material to use for a main structure of the leg. It needs to be lightweight and strong to hold the rest of the robot body.

I would offer my opinion........ :)
Alot of questions come to mind....
How many legs? How tall is the robot? How much does the robot
wiegh, or projected to weigh?

I woud assume a robot not over 4 foot tall, to begin. In that case,
aluminum Tube would be a choice. ServoCity offers aluminum beams (small)
for construction of the members of the robot. Hex - made plastic could be
used, but might not be the best choice. I would suggest finding the weight of
the robot,

I would agree with mklrobo. This question depends greatly on what you're trying to do and what resources are available to you. Aluminum tubing should be easy to get. It can be bought at homedepot or online at McMaster Carr. Carbon fiber could also be an option depending on your budget. It would be stronger and lighter than aluminum, but much more costly.
