Title: full vs half h-bridge
Post by: Noobita on August 03, 2014, 09:37:52 AM
Hi everyone,

I already searched the for this topic, but i didn't came across with nothing. SO, if you could explain me what are the diferences between a full and a half h-bridge and what are the adavantages of each one i would be grateful.

I know that a full h-bridge can drive a motor in either way and that a half h-bridge only can drive the same motor in one way. So, what are the advantages of using a half bridge? For example, the dynamixel uses two half h-bridge to drive the motor. Why not use a full h-bridge?

Grateful

Two half-bridges is an H-bridge. The difference in terminology is that the two half-bridges are in two separate chips but are wired and controlled together as a single H-bridge. One reason to do this is power handling and heat dissipation.
