Hi
I am looking for a couple of cheap PWM speed controller, I have looked at the L298 from Solarbotics controllers but before i order a couple I would like to hear someone else`s opinion on them, or if you have a a better choice for a speed controller plz let me know.
I'm running my motors at 14.8V and they are 2 amps stall

and BTW if you have any used at home I'm interested, Email me at [email protected]
Thanks Danish Boy

good choice!
there's also the http://focus.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/sn754410.pdf
with peak output current of 2A
but id go with the one you picked, you can heatsink it easier for bigger motors later on :)

You don't want to run on stall for this motor driver.
I checked the L298 datasheet (http://www.allelectronics.com/spec/L298N.pdf) and the power rating is 25W.
14.8V * 2A = 29.6W
It will work for you as long as you don't go above ~1.6A. Consider adding a heatsink to the motor driver, too.

well its an omni robot, I'm building. so I'm properly never going to stall my motors for fore than a few seconds, if it will ever happen.
and I'm going to put heat sink in L298 if ill use them.
thanks for the reminder tho :)javascript:swapOptions();
and ill check out the TI chip
thx again
