Best Places to Buy From (that aren't on the parts list)
« on: January 14, 2010, 05:30:15 PM »
All this sparkfun hullabaloo has got me thinking that there are probably all kinds of places to get great parts for cheap that don't get recognized around here because they aren't on the parts list.

I like Plastecs.com because it's a really great solar panel website (or at least the actual service is, the site sucks)
They sell good solar panels at great prices, and can even make you some custom panels if the project calls for it.

What are some good sites that aren't on the parts list?

Futurlec.com/.com.au has the cheapest components i have seen and the shipping is awesomely cheap.
Always good shipping, great service!

Well CircuitGizmos (me) sells a kit just for the SoR robot and CircuitGizmos isn't "on the list."

Oh yeah I forgot: Please don't turn this thread into a "look at my cool site" self-promotion thread.
Not saying it is already. Just prevention.

I didn't even include a link.

I put the kit together exclusively for SoR with the intent of helping beginners get all of their electrical parts (sans servos), not to make money. (If you consider labor, I lose money.) It has helped a few people. Not everyone needs to have a kit, but the option is there.

I said that because this thread has the potential to easily become nothing but spam, not because it already had spam. I'm pretty sure I even said that.

Anyways, I think having a kit is a good idea, especially for beginners.
