Title: EagleCAD libraries
Post by: airman00 on July 31, 2008, 09:51:21 PM
So I learned how to use EagleCAD today and I was very upset that there wasn't a library there that had common hobby parts with clear descriptions. Like for example, it took me 25 minutes to find the standard 1/4 watt resistor library part.

Do you guys wanna make our own library of common parts ( not SMD , only dip  , unless you guys think we need more)

I'll do some scavenging around for the common parts ( resistors, capacitors, molex connectors) and I hope you guys can help me out. I also want to write clear descriptions for each of these parts!

The community collection has been a success with Google Sketchup, lets hope it works here too.

I'm up for it.  I've even had to draw my own components at times.  I wouldn't count out SMD though.  The SOIC chips and 1206/0805 sized resistors/capacitors/LEDs are not terribly difficult to solder on.  Plus you don't have to do any drilling of holes (yay!).

Anyway, working on a through hole library would be a great thing for the community here.

I have used the part from the rcl library, device C-US025-024X044, package C025-024X044. To see how it looks like, it's the red round thingy in this picture:
