Waterproof switches and elec housing??

Gday All,

Okay my problems ( Electronics wise  ) are as follows :

I wish to encase my picaxe 8, power cell and motor in a waterproof housing, yet with an external push start/stop switch on the housing if that makes sense Can anyone suggest type of switch to use or where they are available.

Secoundly IF I can get the correct sizes housing for the components selected, do they make shaft seals that would enable my motor shaft to protrude from the components housing without it letting water into its core ??

Probably basic type stuff for you guys but I am on a mission to get this concept working one way or another.

And yes I realise they make Rc mini subs etc so should be able to get motor shaft seals, but unable to find location to purchase them from. Nor can i locate a two piece body to house the unit that can be taken apart readily to replace batteries and easily resealed again.

I'll let you narrow down the type of switch you want to use...

For the rest, O rings are your friend. For a larger than 1/4 inch shaft you can use a lip seal, but for typical DC motor shafts, an O ring will work - grease it up to minimize leakage and friction. You can also use larger O rings to seal up your box.

I have been searching various sites on the net looking for a miniture piston / shaft type motor without success, dont even know if what I am looking for exists so may have to use a geared motor to create the rise and fall motion that I require. I only need a shaft to extend/retract 10 to 20mm at most and needs to be run via a 6v power source.. Trying to invent new concept stuff can be such a headache.
