I was out doing some field tests today and let my robot get a bit ahead of me on the town oval. There was a gang of magpies hanging around and when they saw my little robot crawling through the grass they all started sending out warning calls. I stayed back about 40m or so just to see what happened. One or two tried swooping the robot but after a while they took off and sat around on the footy goalposts looking suspiciously at me and my bot.
I've never witnessed magpies act this way before - but then I guess they've never seen a robot before so they weren't sure whether to eat it, attack it or run away from it.
