When I connected My 6.13 V NiMH battery to the power supply of $50 robot

It sparked for a sec and then became ok...........

( I think it accounts for charging of d condenser ) Am I correct Or my

Micro controller circuit is wrong.........?????????

Please help......  ???

actually when this happens its normal, this happens cuz current start to run as soon as the battery leads hits the circuit, the spark can be big in big currents circuits
but maan not for a whole second,, its around 0.01 sec
anyways there is no need to worry unless your battery is hot then check for a circuit short

But my batteries arent hot The voltage regulator and capacitor gets so hot that if i
touch them ill get a burn......

mm this means you have a problem,, check your wiring,, when regultors get hot it means you have a short somewhere in the circuit

If you see a spark, and the voltage regulator gets hot, that means you have an electrical short.

Basically, you are connecting ground and power somewhere and it shouldn't be . . .

I've been following your post and I have noticed a few possible problems.

1) You may have shorted across pins 7 & 8 or 21 and 22

2) Check that you connected the large capacitor correctly it seemed that you had the leads connected backward from your picture.

3) make sure the leads of the large capacitor are not touching.

No I just rotated the 5v regulator 180 degrees and soldered it by mistake.........
Then I didnt have a desoldering pump.......so I did what seemed right....
